Post Halloween thoughts continued…Thor: Ragnarok

More monsters and evil do-ers!
This movie is worth seeing (beyond obvious super hero fanaticism) for the Grand Master of the human body, Chris Hemsworth! My goodness. Not sure if his body was sculpted for this part or for life in general but either way, what an accomplishment.

It was exciting to also see Cate Blanchett as the invincible Hela!
Tessa Thompson was great as Valkyrie as well as Idris Elba as the dreadlocked Heimdall.

All of the visual effects and super powers were awesome, and if you stay for the credits they alone are worth watching to witness how many thousands of people it takes to make a movie like this. Plus there are a couple of treats for those hangers-on as well.

My favorite character was Korg! He’s funny and charming and turns out is voiced by the director, Taika Waititi.

What would you like to see? – Professor Marston and the Wonder Women

Angela Robinson (True Blood, The L Word) directed this period drama. It is based on a true story. I did not know the history of Wonder Woman, the superhero, and it is fascinating to see where and why the idea of her character originated. Also, it’s another love story!

So all you Wonder Woman fans have another movie to indulge in. I enjoyed Wonder Woman too. Robin Wright, one of my faves, is in it! And Gal Gadot, of course.

What would you like to see? – The Mountain Between Us

OMG. I didn’t know this was a love story. I don’t read reviews. I go see movies I want to see with people I want to see. Easy peasy.

So I thought The Mountain Between Us was an action story. Granted the title but still… So happy to find out it was a love story because I love love stories!

And ones with Idris? I mean, come on! I love Kate Winslet. She’s stars in one of my other favorite love stories, The Holiday, with Cameron Diaz and Jude Law. I love all her work.

I think she and Idris are good together and this is the most vulnerable I’ve seen Idris so thanks for that, Kate. I was engaged the entire movie and really enjoyed it. It was worth the price of admission simply to see Idris in blue. Sigh. And Idris in blue and the dog? Too much. Daydreamed all the way home…

Flatliners

I saw this today. I really enjoyed it. Ellen Page (Juno) was really good. I like metaphysical stories. I didn’t see the 1990 Flatliners with Julia Roberts and Kimberly Scott.

“The film is about medical students who experiment on near death experiences that involve past tragedies until the dark consequences begin to jeopardize their lives.”

Dr. Strange

images-3is definitely nothing if not visually stunning. It’s also stunning the box office with over $600 million worldwide. It stars one of my faves, Rachel McAdams.
Tilda Swinton is great in it. This is definitely one for the big screen. If you get a small screen like I did definitely try and catch it on a big one instead. There’s definitely going to be a second go round for me for this movie because of that and all of the metaphysical nuggets of wisdom.
